Smooth as Silk Slow Jam Sunday, whewww

It was another, easy, breezy, silky, smooth, very romantic evening in The Margarita Lounge lastnight. Dj SuzeQ is a bad,bad momma on those turn tables with the slow music. All of the couples really enjoy it and even people who aren't coupled up enjoy it. Bringing a dance partner is not required and lately those who come without on end up dancing with someone anyway. Let's call it a meet and greet as well as a dance. If you havent found your way to Manhattan City's Margarita Lounge on Slow Jam Sunday with DJ Suze Q from 6-8pm....shame on you. No worries, wer'e going to do it again next Sunday. Don't be square, be there!

Look Out Bad Guys, The Cops are Here!!

Good News for us Virtual Adventures NYC sim owners, but bad news for potential griefers and aggrivators that come to any of the 4 NYC sims. Thanks to one of the owners, Gaius Luminos, for acquiring security to our 4 sister city sims(NYC, Manhattan City, Ocraco and Arima City) we can now rest a little more easily about griefers and trouble makers entering the sims. They will now, be dealt with by an elite security force patrolling the area by horse and patrol cars.

As stated by Gaius earlier today "Good News for us..bad news for Griefers. Earlier I accepted a deal with An SL Police Unit, the Gendamarie National Francaise (GNSL) to station at New York Island. I want to stress that GNSL is an 8 member Team of former Military Officers (Vets) from RL, and not a gang of 15 year olds playing at being 'policemen' in SL (which is worse than having griefers).
GNSL's charter purpose in NY will be: Anti griefing patrols, and emergency call response to residents and store owners who are being victimised, general assistance to residents and visitors to NY, event security (if requested), and the removal of space junk left by non residents".

Yay for us and boo for the bad guys. Everyone on the Virtual Adventures Team want to make everyone's experience on our sims  pleasant. The presence of security can now make that possible in a more harmonious way.In the picture above are Officers Mak Topaz and Opa Munster on patrol in Manhattan City. Thank you Gaius and GNSL, from all of us. Your efforts are very much appreciated.

Mimi Carpenter Liva At The Apollo Theatre.....fantastic!

A great way to start our live performances at the Apollo, Mimi Carpenter was excellent! The theatre had a very nice crowd to listen, dance, and applaud the songstress as she sang an array of lovely tunes. Mimi is french and her songs were in english and some in french. I'm not fluent in the french language but it sounded good to me and the crowd that was here with us. If you missed todays performance, don't fret. Mimi was just the beginning of live singers and shows we plan to house at The Apollo Theatre. Kudos Mimi!!!! Thanks so much for gracing us with your appearance and lovely voice!

'The Rest of Me' - Craig Lyons [with lyrics]

MLK Day, Moka's Way

Today everyone is celebrating Martin Luther King. As a african american woman, who has been taught the importance of civil rights and equality for all since birth. Martin Luther King is a man whom I feel like I've known since I've known myself. Along with many other important black figures memories I was raised to respect . It makes me happy to see the world is catching up in it's thinking of  respecting and paying omage to a man's memory who fought so hard for all of us to just have equality without discrimination. This is not something that has been drummed in my mind to accept and recognize in society. It's always been a way of life for me, a given, and it's always felt like an honor to know and learn about a courageous man who fought for me even before I was born, so that I could have equal rights as any other human being. Regardless of race, color or creed. My point being, society is catching up to something that has always been second nature to me.I relaxed most of the day but here in SL I chose to go to a Craig Lyons performance this evening. Craig is a very talented singer and I love his voice. When you go to his show, Craig is singing in his studio live and you can turn on the video and watch him sing as well as listen. Of course I did both. I think I have a crush on him too.Correction, I know I do. Not only is the man cute in real life, but his avatar is cute too. Craig played his usual fabulous tunes and he did a salute to MLK in one of the songs. I thought that was awesome and I drunk every word of it.When I say MLK, Moka's way, I mean I spent time with two of my favorite men today. It was very nice. As for Craig Lyons, the man with the velvet voice, look for him in Manhattan City sometime soon.Peep these pics. Hope you enjoy them like I did.

100 Avatar Exhibit in Manhattan City Opening tomorrow!

BooperKit Moseley is hosting a 100 Avatar exhibit which opens tomorrow at 12pm SLT in Manhattan City.  Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend. DJ Urbanking will be the DJ for this event and it will be very live and very fun. Bring your friends and come enjoy 100 Avatars....Manhattan City Style!

Second Life and the other virtual worlds that have built up around it have gone through many changes. People come now, as then, for many reasons. Relationships are made, true selves discovered, fun had and memories made.

Throughout this time, whether you are an oldie or a newbie, we have always had the snapshot. Some of us faithfully uploaded records of our experiences to SLPics, some keep libraries in inventory. Some, like me, did both and also kept galleries too. It was this that inspired me - I used to have a gallery of customers who came to my store and wore my hair. More and more people would ask to be in the gallery and send me pics for it. It was at one point huge, and I loved it and would go there to browse and remember and often found others doing the same. Thinking about this gave me the idea.

100 Snapshots is an exhibition of 100 first avatar snapshots.

The oldest are from 2002, the newest from just this year. I have not selected them or filtered them. I see patterns in the choice of first snapshots, and there are indeed many interesting stories related to them. I hope you find them interesting, perhaps intriguing, sometimes beautiful and often cringeworthy. There will be pictures that make you reminisce if you're an oldie like me.

Thank you to everyone who contributed pictures, time and ideas. I hope it was worth it.
